A sweet embrace of two colourful figures...

Technique used:

Mosaic with stone tesserae, marble, and glass paste.

Using a minute technique, the mosaic creates a refined surface that goes very well with the subject: a sweet embrace of two colourful figures.

The purple and yellow colours contrast the two lovers' intimate actions. This action is under the spotlight, and the yellow background renders the dramatic effect.
It comes to an intimate and spectacular moment, achieved through complementary colours.
The figures are made of natural stone materials. The blues are mostly sky blue, Bardiglio grey and Azul Baia. At the same time, the reds are Laguna in the darker parts and Verona in the lighter ones. The white is a natural stone, a Botticino. The yellow background is made of glass paste to accentuate the yellow's brightness.
The sketch is the artist's creation, made with watercolour tempera on paper. Therefore, the preciousness of the mosaic rendering will be precisely that of restoring the visual effects of the details in, for example, the faces and the sleeve of the male figure's robe.
